Equipment: Evenstar ![]() Arwen gives Aragorn the Evenstar Pendant during a rendezvous in Rivendell prior to the Council of Elrond. It is a symbol of her love, and a token of her commitment to a mortal life with him. Brooch ![]() Hadhafang ![]() Hadhafang is an Elvish sword. Its name in Elvish means "Throng-Cleaver." It first belonged to the Elf princess Idril, who married a mortal man and gave birth to Earendil, father of Elrond, and grandfather to Arwen. Elrond used Hadhafang at the end of the Second Age during the Battle of the Last Alliance. Arwen later used the same blade when she helped Frodo escape the Ringwraiths. Inscribed in the blade are the Sindarin words, "aen estar Hadhafang i chathol hen, thand arod dan i thang an i arwen." This roughly translates to, "This blade is called Hadhafang, a noble defense against the enemy throng for a noble lady." The inscription ties the sword to Arwen, since her name in Elvish means "noble lady" or "noble maiden."
