 Name: Barliman Butterbur Race: Man Actor: David Weatherley Aliases: The Innkeeper Appears in: FotR Movie Bio: Barliman Butterbur is the Innkeeper of The Prancing Pony, a respectable establishment (or perhaps not…) in the town of Bree, with the distinguishing feature of having nice cozy hobbit-sized rooms available, in addition to rooms for the Big Folk (Men). Gandalf the Grey, being an occasional patron, sets the Prancing Pony as the location for his meeting with the Hobbits. Thus it is that, using the alias "Underhill", Frodo and his travel companions find themselves at the Inn. And it is there that they (and the movie-goer) first meet Strider. In the night, 4 of the Nazgűl invade the Prancing Pony with the objective of killing the Ringbearer (who has made his presence known by putting on the Ring, as a result of a moment of Brew-induced merriment by Merry and Pippin). Through the foresight and intuition of Strider, they escape harm.
