Prologue: In the Movie-Universe, Elrond Peredhil was present at the battle of the Last Alliance, where he commanded the Elven Army of archers under the guidance of the High King Gil-galad. After the fall of Elendil and Gil-galad (and Sauron’s defeat), Isildur took the Ring; Elrond led Isildur into the heart of Mount Doom and instructed him to cast it into the Fire of Orodruin to destroy it. 2. FotR: Three thousand years later, Elrond is found ruling the haven of Imladris (Rivendell), where he is a Great Healer and a Lore-Master. It was to Rivendell that Aragorn’s mother – Gilraen – took her child, for protection and education; and there she lies buried. There, too, are kept the Shards of Narsil, the heirloom of the Kings of Gondor and Arnor. It is also to Rivendell that Bilbo Baggins of the Shire retires, to finish his book, when he leaves Hobbiton after his eleventy-first birthday. And it is also there that Frodo’s Morgul-blade wound is tended to and, by the skills of Lord Elrond, he begins to mend. 3. FotR (cont...): The Council of Elrond To this Council, Elrond summons representatives of all the Free Races of Middle-earth, to debate the fate of the Ring. It is decided that it must be destroyed and, as a consequence, Elrond names and blesses the Fellowship of the Ring. 4. TTT: In Elrond's name, Haldir and a host of Elves join the Battle of Helm's Deep, to help defend the World of Men. At the same time, Elrond tries to dissuade his daughter from giving up her immortality and binding herself to Aragorn, his foster-son. Equipment: The Blue Ring, Vilya  One of the Three Elven Rings of Power that were unsoiled by Sauron, it was handed to Elrond by Gil-galad. Through Vilya, Elrond can arrest the decay and influence of the passage of time. It also enhances his powers of healing.
