Old Harry is, thus, the first one of the Big Folk that Frodo and his three Hobbit traveling-companions meet upon their arrival in Bree. Initially reluctant to let the Hobbits pass without a decent explanation of their business in Bree, Harry's heart quickly softens, and the Gates swing ajar. Later in the night, after Frodo's mishap with The One Ring, the Nazgūl track the Ringbearer to Bree.
