 Name: Isildur Race: Man (Númenórean) Actor: Harry Sinclair Aliases: King of Arnor, King of Gondor Appears in: FotR Movie Bio: The eldest son and heir of Elendil The Tall, Isildur joined his father in the Last Alliance battle against Sauron. After seeing his father fall, Isildur took up his father's sword, Narsil, and cut the Ring of Power off Sauron's hand with the broken blade. Sauron was thus defeated. While Isildur had that one chance to destry the Ring, he refused to do so when brought to the Crack of Doom by Elrond and kept the Ring for himself. When ambushed by Orcs on a later journey, Isildur put the Ring and escaped unseen into the River Anduin. But the Ring slipped off his finger, betraying his location to the orcs who shot three arrows into his back. He thus died an ignoble death.
