He was also the most trusted fellower of the dark Valar, Melkor, who was defeated in the War of Wrath. Sauron fled and was not seen again until his reappearance in the First Age. He began to build the Dark Tower of Barad-dūr. Under false pretenses and disguises, he taught the Elves secret knowledge to forge Rings of Power. As they followed his instructions all innocent of his dark design, Sauron forged for himself the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom . Within this Ring, he poured all his powers and evil. Through it, he would control the bearers of the other Rings held by the three High Elves, Nine Kings of Men and Seven Dwarves. But the Elves perceived his plans and took off their Rings. Angered by this failure, Sauron set loose his hordes. Movie Bio: Near the end of the First Age, a Last Alliance of Elves and Men marched to the Dark Tower of Barad-dūr in an attempt to overthrow Sauron. They were victorious when Isildur, son of Elendil, cut off Sauron's hand that borne the One Ring. With the lost of the Ring, Sauron's physical body vaporized. But his essence lingered for Isildur failed to destroy the One Ring as he desired to keep it for himself. The Ring betrayed Isildur when he was ambushed and he was killed in the River Anduin as he tried to retrieve it. The Ring, however, was lost. For two and a half thousand years, knowledge of the One Ring became but a legend. It was finally found by Gollum who became corrupted by its evil for five hundred years. With its discovery, Sauron's power began to grow once more. His Dark Tower of Barad-dūr was rebulit and his Orcs began to multiply again. From the pinnacle of his tower, Sauron kept an unceasing vigilance on the lands and kingdoms of Middle Earth. To regain his full powers, Sauron began the search for the One Ring which had fallen into the keeping of a Hobbit called Bilbo Baggins who found it lying on the ground in Gollum's cave. Sixty years later, Gollum was captured and tortured to reveal the whereabouts of the Ring. Sauron then sent out the Nine Ringwraiths from Minas Morgul to retrieve it. By then, the Ring had past to another, its identity and the peril it represented discovered. Sauron gained an unexpected ally at this moment. Saruman, leader of the Istari. He ordered Saruman to build him an army while he gathered his own. Orcs and allies from the East. With two armies, he could engulf Middle Earth easily. The Ring continued to elude Sauron although he could only be sure it was held by a Hobbit. As the search continued for the Ring, he set in motion his plan to conquer Middle Earth by attacking one of the cities in Gondor, Osgiliath. Equipment: The One Ring ![]() Forged by Sauron in the fires of Orodruin. It transported the wearer into the Wraith-world, making him invisible in the real world. It also granted the wearer virtual immortality and dominion over the nineteen Great Rings. On the Ring, words in the language of Mordor were inscribed Ash nazg durbatulūk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulūk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul. Armour and Mace ![]() A hugh mace was wielded by Sauron. Whether if it was Morgoth's weapon Grond, Hammer of the Underworld was unknown. ![]() Palantir Sauron had in his possession the seventh seeing stone, the Ithil-stone, through which he communicated with Saruman.
