 Name: Shadowfax ("Grey-hair") Race: Horses (Mearas) Actor: Domero (a white Andalusian) and Blanco (a thoroughbred cross who doubled him in the running scenes) Appears in: TTT, RotK Movie Bio: Shadowfax was the head of the Mearas of Rohan. It was not known when Gandalf first came across him but it would have happened sometime during his travels around Middle Earth. Shadowfax had apparently aided Gandalf in his many adventures by his remark "he's been my friend through many dangers" when he heeded his call in TTT. As the lord of horses, Shadowfax would have been in his prime and had possibly unknown abilities for he bore Gandalf in his search for Eomer and the exiled Rohirrim and to return with them to Helm's Deep which took five days. He continued to serve as Gandalf's steed in ROTK and went with him to the West after the War of the Ring. Equipment: None, for he would not tolerate any trappings on himself. More Pictures    |
