Pre-Movie Bio

He founded the realm of Angmar. After the defeat of Sauron and the lost of the Ring in the First Age, he retreated into the shadows with the other Nazgūl and reappeared again in the Third Age.

Movie Bio

Leading the other Nazgūl, the Witch-King set out from Minas Morgul to track down the Hobbit holding the One Ring. He cornered Frodo Baggins at the top of the watchtower of Amon Sūl and stabbed him with his Morgul sword when he resisted in giving up the Ring. The Witch-King was prevented from taking the Ring with Aragorn's return from his patrol.

He continued to follow Frodo's trail and chased him to the Ford of Imladris where he was challenged by Arwen Evenstar who unleashed the power of the river against him and his followers. Relentless in his quest to retrieve the Ring, he continued his search and sensed the presence of the Ring in the Dead Marshes and thereafter traced it to Osgiliath where he was again thwarted from retrieving it by Samwise Gamgee and Faramir.

When Sauron unleashed his armies on Gondor, he led them to seige Minas Tirith where he was to meet his end.
