Elrond

by arwen88

He has lived for thousands of years,
Of the elvin kin,
Elrond, the half elvin,
Has seen much sadness, much pain, and much regret.

He has seen the folly of man,
Shaken his head at stiff necks of dwarves,
Wept for downfall of his people,
Witnessed the fall of much good, much beauty, in all the world's span.

His wife is lost,
Daughter is parting from her kin,
For a mortal man, she cannot leave with her people,
To the Gray Havens, to the Undying Lands,
She shall stay, where her people have been,
Never to see them again.

His people fade,
Like the morning mist burnt off,
Now all that is left is a hint of what they were, grand and beautiful,
The may only watch as their world around them crumbles,
Helpless, unable to do anything.

So they depart,
He shall leave with them,
With others, he will leave the land of his Heart.
