Ancient Pathways

by Dee Hall

Amid the forest dark and deep, the ancient pathways wind.
That once were trod by Elven feet
in some forgotten time.
Trees like Eldar warriors stand, while all around them sleeps,
where the road once lead to Beleraind
an endless watch they keep.
It's long since any walked this way, since the world was young
and Elven Lords came out to play
and joyous songs were sung.
Now all is silent dark and still, where once their fires burned.
for the Elves have gone into the west,
never to return
