Frodo's Song

by Zoe
He stood much shorter, but same to his kin.
He used to be so normal, to all a friend.
He dreamed of the day when he, would leave it all behind.
But never did he think it was so close: so close the end.
Heir to an object, a power he didn't want.
Asked to keep secret. Asked to keep it safe.
Left he did, from his home.
Left without a trace.
A destiny of a world, all rests on his shoulders.
The fate of all was kept in his pocket.
He didn't ask for this responsibility.
But nor did he complain, our dear hobbit of humility.
Far he walked, with three companions.
Past the gardens he had grown.
Then came across a hooded friend.
A secret heir to a special throne.
Followed this ranger, as this heir was known.
To a top, that was weathered by wind.
There he was stabbed by morgul blade
Sinker deeper into darkness into a world of sin.
A destiny of a world, all rests on his shoulders.
The fate of all was kept in his pocket.
He didn't ask for this responsibility.
But nor did he complain, our dear hobbit of huumility.
Deeply wounded, he was.
Found by an elf, carried to safety.
There he grew well and met a friend of old,
But then summoned to decided his fate and what he was to behold.
Upon him was placed a far too heavy burden.
In a council that knew this problem would never fade
With eight companions, a fellowship was formed.
To take an evil that was to be unmade.
A destiny of a world, all rests on his shoulders.
The fate of all was kept in his pocket.
He didn't ask for this responsibility.
But nor did he complain, our dear hobbit of humility
Far these companions of nine did they walk.
Sorry to say good-bye and begin their flight.
Over hills, through the wood, and over the snow.
Then came upon them was a path that would claim a life.
A friend of all, a friend of truth
Was taken by an unworthy immorality.
Tears fells down upon his face
To have to say goodbye is a cruel fate of humanity.
A destiny of a world, all rests on his shoulders.
The fate of all was kept in his pocket.
He didn't ask for this responsibility.
But nor did he complain, our dear hobbit of humility
Into security of the elves, he was taken
Looked into a mirror and saw the past and a future that would never
be.
But now he understood why to leave from these woods.
And away to set his faithful friends free.
And so ran away he did leaving them all behind.
He stood on the beach, holding out that treacherous ring
With tears in eyes,
Forever asking, why, why, why?
A destiny of a world, all rests on his shoulders.
The fate of all was kept in his pocket.
He didn't ask for this responsibility.
But nor did he complain, our dear hobbit of humility.
When he pushed the boat away from the shore,
He heard a familiar voice calling his name.
He told his friend to turn back," I'm going alone."
But his friend wasn't leaving as always the same.
So our dear hobbit pulled him in
And together they went through thick and thin.
The others were sad to watch them go.
But deep down, they knew this must be so.
A destiny of a world, all rests on his shoulders.
The fate of all was kept in his pocket.
He didn't ask for this responsibility.
But nor did he complain, our dear hobbit of humility.
And so they left into their rocky destination
And came across an evil from the past.
He became their unsuited guardian,
Hoping he would not last.
Into a world of forgotten memories,
This guardian led them.
Lost friends and foes lay underneath
As of dear hobbit was too late to pull his sword from his sheath
