Messages on a Ring

by Jennifer Took

A Gold Ring. Who would've know that this piece of metal can hold so much power in the world?

I gaze down at it, there are writings on it. Messages on a ring.

" I don't want to be the keeper. Why me?" I am not someone or a kind that is known for going on important quests, adventures.

But I hold the power. I go for the sake of the world.

Wanting and greed is all around me, but I will never let them have it. It is mine, my love, my precious.

Look what the ring has made of me! I talk like someone who has had this ring also, but has made him mad.

How I yearn not to turn into him, be him. The thought of that creature makes my heart skip a beat from fear.

I push myself to make it to there, so everyone will be in danger... no more.

But how can I take it all the way to that evil, dangerous place?

I am weak and little to travel to such a far place.

I'll show them! I'll make my people proud of who they are and they will never have to think that they are to small to do something that is drastic because of their size.

I am doing something of that sort, I am in a life-threatening mission to save Middle Earth.

For I am Frodo Baggins, a Hobbit.

A companion for The Fellowship of the Ring.
