Among the names on the 2010 New Year's Honours List released by Buckingham Palace yesterday was the news that Peter Jackson will be recieving a Knighthood for his work in Film and also all that he has done in turn to promote film making in New Zealand.

And PJ's not the only one I'm thrilled to learn will now be a Knight. Patrick Stewart's on the list too!! :D

And it was high time, too - just considering the consequences of PJ's work for New Zealand.... I am always amazed by the impact it has apparently had in various areas. :)

I know Elwen. When I went looking for a post of mine here w/PJ's avatar ( :D ) in it, I had to go clear to the third page back. The images page just load so horribly slow for me, it's just faster if I go back through the pages here. Anyway...As I'm going through, I see the post I made about the Motion Capture Technology helping children w/moblitiy problems to walk and figure out why after using the suits to capture the way they're walking, to figure out how to help them improve their walking.

I mean...Who would have thought that would end up being used that way!?!

And gwendelf....Whenever you've got news about something that you think should be posted here, give one of us a shout through PM and let us know about it. I didn't hear this news until New Year's Eve when the official Press Release from Buckingham Palace was made officially public and that's when the various news agencies put their stories out and not just here in North America either. I have Google News Alerts sent to me through E-mail whenever there's any mention of LOTR, PJ and the Members of the Cast in the news and that's how I found out about it.

I can see it becoming known in New Zealand long before the rest of the World though. It's too bad you weren't able to let us know sooner so we could have gotten the Celebration started before now. :)

BTW...I'm a Monarchist/Royalty fan and will pick up Majesty magazine if there's something really historic being covered or a really interesting article/series. This summer, they did a series on the various Commonwealth Orders and the New Zealand Orders are just gorgeous!!!

Dad and I were both Ooohing and Ahhhing over how whomever did the design picked colours that really play off of one another and catch the eye. They really are stunning. :)

Indeed, gwendelf - a pm to Tigger and me will probably get things going - although I bet that Tigger, like me, goes round the forums and will see a thread, too.

Usually we are, between the two of us, pretty fast (though news has been very slow in recent months) - but the holidays were getting in the way. :)

Anyway - thanks for posting stuff. We are always grateful for links and information. :)

Thanks, actually I did PM and email a moderator. But it didn't achieve anything - and I presumed it was because people were all on holiday.

I clicked on "View Council-of-Elrond Team" and found "moderators"here.
The only name there for news posting was mik, and I sent both a PM and an email, but he doesn't seem to have been around to read either of them.:o

I didn't see that I could scroll right down to the News Team - so next time I'll try sending to a couple of you. :) If I spot any more news.

gwendelf - the best option now is the new thread in the movie forum 'if you have any news please post them here' - it's a sticky thread right at the top of the forum. :)

I made the thread in reaction to what happened here. ANd in anticipation of news soon to come. :)
