Pinoy LOTR Fans? 2

looks around and sighs. Imladris is gone for now and this is our new 'home'.... (with more smilies! WOOHOO! ) where are all the Pinoy LOTR fans? Or are me and Legolass the only ones who are here?!?!

P.S. Thanks so much for all the Imladris mods who made this 'switch' happen! I'm not worthy! :

YAY, mallorn! Thank you! Thank you!

I'm glad to be back. I hope the others also find their way in here. I'll text the others na lang who are lost in the void...sana they will find their way in here, although, I'm really worried about LadyOhBee and all the others who are in the US, because I have no way to get in touch with them Sana they will find us.

Pano na yan? Tayo lang dalawa ang nangugulo dito - after all the work we put in the old thread. Hmmph. Sige na nga - ibalik natin ang thread to its former glory!

Wink

Hi, guys! Is this a private club or can anyone join?

Just kidding.

Taga Panay ako, pero ngayon, sa L.A. na.

Sorry for the poor grammar, but Ilongo is my dialect of choice.

Don't worry about the lost posters; they will probably find their way back....I hope.

Once again, hello, everyone!

Hi (((((Ant))))...errr...(((((((ent)))))

And welcome, fellbeast. Nope this is not an exclusive club, and new people are always welcome. Taga-Panay ka? I'm from Cebu, close to your province. I can understand Ilongo but I can't speak it, kasi yung Cebuanos parang galit magsalita - ang Ilonggo malambing. Hehehe. So glad you found us and drop by more often

mallorn, i texted BaD_BURN and lady_fin already, but they haven't responded yet. I hope they and all the others find their way in here.

Hugs and to all

((((leggy)))) (Haha, I can see that Ant and Ent will have to battle it out! )

Welcome to CoE fellbeast! *bows*

I'm from Sydney, Australia myself (which is the best city in the world!) but I've got a Bisayan background (Roxas City, Capiz to be exact) .. I'm not great at the language or the dialects though.. ^_^; I'll learn one day!

I'd also like to add that there are no aswang (?) in Capiz!! LOL

*Bows to The Elentari*
Sino ang gina tilawan mo nga i-tonto? Dira na sa Capiz kag sa Antique ang mga aswang kag maranhig!

Subtitles:
Who are you trying to fool? Capiz and Antique are full of witches and zombies!

legolass: "malambing and Ilonggo?" I think one of my (Tagalog) co-workers said something of the sort. Malambing=soft-spoken?

I once met a girl from Cebu when vacationing in Iloilo. She liked David Eddings more than Tolkein. I had to let her go.

I've been on the forum for a few months now and had been lurking on this thread for a while. When the forum got reset I deemed it a good time to introduce myself.

But I do have a question for the rest of you "kababayans".

Do you ever post in the Movie or Book forums? If so, I have missed them.

Oh mallorn, don't remind me But we can always make a new start and don't you just love the smileys? I texted lady_fin about the changes, she responded na, and she promised to let Airek and the others in Manila know. BaD_BURN hasn't texted me back - I did something silly, you know. I called his cell and when someone answered, I realized it might sound a bit strange for me to be looking for someone named BaD_BURN, so I put it down . D'oh. But he's makulit, so I expect him to be texting me soon...although I do hope he made it here and is just lurking.

fellbeast, you did the right thing. David Eddings, indeed. Hehehehe. So I gather, you don't know how to speak Tagalog? Did you grow up in the US all your life, then? "Malambing" means "sweet," as mallorn said.

I post on many forums in the board. I've posted in the Movie and Book forums many times, but you can find me most of the time in the Pony, Angband or in Fandom. (The perks of having internet at work ).

Glad to see you all.

legolass: Oddly enough, I have learned more Tagalog in the States from speaking to Filipinos here than I ever learned in school in Iloilo (my home city). This, as you well know is because no-one wants a dialect shoved down their throats. I lived in Iloilo city 'til I was 14 then moved to the States.

Admittedly, my Tagalog is weak but my Ilonggo is ...dare I say it, good. I was buying something in SM and made some comment about the smelly guy in front of me and the "despatchadora"( cashier) was surprised that I spoke the language. (she thought I was a foreigner).

Malambing=sweet. Hmmmm.....I might be one of the rare exceptions to this stereotype.

Blurry: My home island is the first place the Malay datus(chieftains) settled. Or so they told me in my 7-8 of Philippine History when I went to school.

You can find my umbrella here.

Makit-an mo ang payung ko diri.

Not quite the same, eh?

Kamu=you(plural)
"I" in Ilonggo or Tagalog=ako.

*In a rare mood of levity (just got back from the bar) fellbeast hugs everyone*

Now where are the rest of those naughty posters?

You talk of my friends much too lightly, fellbeast! Er.. did I say 'friends'? I meant 'foes'... *cackles evilly*

Hi Hallah and blurry!

legolass did you call BaD_BURN makulit? lol! *waits for BaD_BURN to retort back* By the way, I'm pretty sure unregistered users can't access these forums, unless of course he's registered under a new username.

Hey again lady_fin! ((((lady_fin))))

I just did a search on my real name and there are multiple pages online with results. I wouldn't normally be suprised, but my surname is uncommon so I'm.. slightly unnerved.. One of the sites listed was a detailed family tree from my father's side since... generations and generations ago

((((blurry)))! So glad to see you in here! Yes, there are some similar words from the Tagalog language and Malay. If not Tagalog, probably some of our dialects also have Malay influences...I'm just not sure which words, but I'm sure there are. I speak a dialect called Cebuano (different from Tagalog) and yes, kamu = you. Oh, and I do know one Malay phrase...Terima Kasih...which means "thank you," right?

And, hello, lady_fin! So glad to see you in here...I hope the others make their way in here soon...bilisan nila - nalalampasan na tayo ng mga Australyano! I'm worried about BaD_BURN - he hasn't texted me back, and he hasn't posted in here! Grrrrrr! Show yourself, BaD_BURN!

Yes, I do understand what you mean. Cebuanos are very proud, and once there was a campaign to have it as the national language - I don't think it would work, though. I used to fear speaking Tagalog before, but after studying in Manila, I got used to speaking it.

And naughty posters? I don't know what you're talking about...

Wow, Ent, you found a family tree! Wow, I should do that, too....I have Chinese roots, and I've always wanted to find out where my ancestors are.

Well, I've got to go. Take care, everyone...see you all later.

Naughty poster? Who's a naughty poster? *glances at leggy*

(((((((leggy)))))))

I've got Chinese roots too, but waaay back.. My ancestory (in regard to my last name anyway) is a marriage of Chinese and Spanish blood, as is I'm sure about 3/4 of the Filo population

according to my family's family tree, my ancestors (on my mother's side) were gobernadorcillos ('rulers'? in spanish times) of Nueva Ecija!

hi lady_fin! good to see you here!

I have seen the trailer on the big screen! its attached to The Bourne Identity, and as an extra bonus, the Matrix Reloaded trailer is also attached to it. I really wasn't expecting to see it there...
