The wedding had once again postponed indefinitely and so Callie, Orthie, Millie, and all their friends were still lounging about Minas Tirith waiting for the big day.

One particular fine spring day, Orthie had gone off with Cousin-in-Law Eomer to learn more about Rohirric customs since the family would be hanging out in Edoras at least once a year.

Callie was pushing Millie along in a stroller on the third level, when she came upon her husband and cousin.

Orthie smiled and called her over. "Callie!" She maneuvered the stroller over and embraced her husband. "How is my favourite Shieldmaiden?" he asked, smiling fondly.

"Orthie," she said, glancing at Eomer, "I don't think I am really worthy of - " She was cut off as Eomer raised a hand.

Her cousin placed his hands upon her shoulders and looked down at her with his pools of molten chocolate - er, I mean, his eyes.

"Callie," he said gently, "no-one is as deserving as you are of the title of Shieldmaiden of Rohan. You were born into royalty and by Eru I know that you're a better warrior than most of our other Shieldmaidens. Not that we have that many."

She granted him a teary smile. "I thank you, Cousin." She gave him a quick peck on the cheek before dropping a quick curtsy and walking off with Millie.

"Oh," she called back to the pair, "dinner will be ready in an hour." And then she headed off.

She was dreaming.

At least, she hoped she was.

After all, standing on the edge of the crater of an active volcano wasn't something one normally did in one's waking hours.

Unless you were crazy. [A/n: im not sayin vulcanologists r crazee or anythin i just woodnt want 2 b neer n aktiv volcano u no?]

She was pretty sure she wasn't.

Okay, so maybe she was a teeny tiny bit. She had fallen in love with the broken soul of the most gifted of the Noldor.

Stupid redheaded Rohir wench. She'd broken his pride. ...Or was that girl an Elf? Eru only knew. She claimed she was cousin to Eowyn but had been raised in Lothlorien.

A likely story.

Galvinuial brushed her hair out of her face and focused on the matter at hand.

Volcano.

Really really hot lava.

And... some weird guy in a tweed jacket.

He was walking steadily along the rim, brandishing what looked like...

...Was that a spork?

Sweet Oromë in a sidesaddle, it was!

She started backing up along the edge, but unfortunately backed into something hard and muscular.

"Fëanor," she breathed in relief.

"Who are you?" the Elf asked the man in tweed.

"Your creator," the man replied in an eerie voice.

"I'm scared," Vinnie whimpered.

"Show yourself!" Fëanor demanded.

A flashlight clicked on. Not that Fëanor and Vinnie knew what that was, but it was on nonetheless. It illuminated the man's face from the chin up, which was... interesting.

"I am your worst nightmare," the man intoned, slowly advancing upon the Elven duo.

"You don't scare me," yelled Fëanor.

The man (who was Tolkien btw) whipped out a pipe with the hand that had previously held the flashlight. "Fear me!" he cackled.

"...You're going to fight me with a smoking apparatus and an eating utensil?" Fëanor was understandably incredulous. After all, all the pipe could do was a) cause lung cancer after prolonged use, b) cause a nasty coughing fit, or c) burn someone with hot ashes. The spork might penetrate both layers of skin, but would only hit muscle and bone if used with great force, which the man obviously did not have. Though, it would be useful for gouging out eyes.

While Fëanor had been thinking those options over, Tolkien had been winding up. When the pipe hit Galvinuial in the side of the head, it took them all by surprise. She swayed, then fell over the edge. Fëanor lunged for her, and in the process fell over himself.

The last thing they heard before being burned to a crisp was the man's maniacal laughter.

Out of the pain and heat and into darkness they went.

Fëanor realized he was being punished for disobeying Mandos.

Then came Mandos' grinning face.

"Welcome to my Halls," he said. "I hope your stay is long and painful."

'Well crap,' thought Fëanor.
